I obsess over fabrics a lot when it comes to my wardrobe. I believe that what you wear and how it feels on you can make a huge difference to how you feel in it. On the whole, I prefer to wear natural materials like wool, cotton and silk; they allow the skin to breathe but also feel nice next to the skin.
When PIECE NYC offered to send me one of their tops, which are all made with technical fabrics sourced from Japan, Italy and Switzerland, I was intrigued. They spent time and money sourcing fabrics from the top mills in each of these countries. Which led me to think that not all man-made fabrics are equal and that I shouldn’t dismiss them all quite so quickly. When it arrived I could tell the difference simply from handling it, the fabric it was made with is soft, with a structure that gives the top a defining shape. It felt good on and fit well, though I do usually prefer a slightly longer top (no one wants to see me flashing my tummy).
Even though the Timid top is quite sporty in its construction PIECE NYC are not a sportswear brand. They make pieces with a timeless aesthetic for women that need versatility from their wardrobe. It’s also a brand with good morals, ‘innovation, design integrity, sustainable materials and practices that support our local economy‘.
