The Biker Jacket
I’ve practically lived in my Sandro black leather biker jacket since the day I got it; I wear it with jeans, over dresses, with tailored trousers and heels, it’s a probably the most versatile jacket I own.
I have countless pairs of skinny jeans and they all get worn. Dress them up, dress them down, you can now wear skinny jeans almost anywhere without anyone questioning you and your sartorial decisions.
The Ankle Boot
In the winter I wear ankle boots constantly, trainers just don’t cut the mustard in rainy London and unless you like having soggy feet a good pair of ankle boots will see you through the season.
The Camel Coat
I actually own a couple of camel coats one thigh length, the other a full length ankle grazer. When everything is grey around you and everyone is wearing black, a touch of camel softens an otherwise harsh look.
The White Shirt
Last but not least, the most important wardrobe essential is a white shirt, it’s one of the hardest working items in most people’s wardrobes.

Finding and investing in good wardrobe essentials has become really important to me. Once upon a time I would buy things I liked without much thought beyond “that’s nice”. So many of those items have since gone to charity shops, my sister or friends; I wore them a couple of times before realising that they didn’t go with much that I already owned or just didn’t suit me. Now I would rather spend my money on something that I know I’m going to wear until the day it falls apart and goes with at least 50% of my wardrobe, these are my wardrobe essentials.
