As I mentioned before, we stayed in a pretty cool chambre d’hotes in Provence. The main house was very special but equally so were the gardens. They were very well maintained and full of beautiful flowers, plants and trees. One of the pathways at Le Clos Marquise was lined on either side with green and cream hydrangeas (my favourite). There were so many plants, the affect was quite breath taking. When I was little I found hydrangeas a bit old fashioned but as I’ve grown up I’ve come to love these unusual plants that change colour with the acidity of the soil, the green and cream ones have a look of purity and simplicity that I love.
