As we come into October I’m starting to think more about ways I can improve our home so that when the days get shorter, and we inevitably spend more time here, we have a really beautiful and enjoyable space to be in. I finally painted our staircase this weekend, a job that’s been on my to-do list for months and I’ve just received some gorgeous new pieces from India May Home and COS x HAY which I’ll share with you soon.
In the meantime, I’ve been looking for inspiration and today I came across this elegant living space that belongs to Ivona Bruun, a model and jewellery designer born in former Czechoslovakia. The neutral palette is easy on the eye with a soft cream rug, stunning wooden parquet flooring, and mixed Mid-Century furniture, in an interesting combination of textures, from rattan to leather and linen, in shades of brown and beige. Sculptural objects, stacked books and selected prints throughout add character; I love the giant acorns. Large windows let in lots of light, bathing the room in a soft glow. The room is neither masculine nor feminine, it strikes a balance that would appeal to many. Object d’art on the window sill and coffee table appear to be collectors pieces rather than contemporary designs. Ivona Bruun’s beautiful living room has been tastefully designed in all aspects.
